Doctoral/Master Student Scholarship | Call for Applications
The Hellenic Center for Entheogenic Research (EPOPTEIA) announces the award of one (1) annual doctoral scholarship to support the completion of a PhD dissertation.
❋ Award Amount & Duration
Total award: €36,000
Disbursed in three (3) installments
Duration: 24 months
Installments released upon submission and approval of four-month progress reports
❋ Eligibility
Applicants must submit electronically:

Academic Curriculum Vitae
Official confirmation of PhD enrollment and appointment of the Three-Member Supervisory Committee
Research proposal summary (maximum 1,000 words)
Letter of recommendation from the supervising professor
❋ Research Scope
The scholarship supports doctoral research in the chemical and pharmacological investigation of natural products with potential neuroactive or entheogenic properties.
Eligible research may include:
• Isolation and structural characterization of bioactive compounds from botanical, fungal, or microbial sources.
• Pharmacological evaluation of natural compounds in relevant biological or cellular models.
• Chemical analysis of secondary metabolites associated with historically or ethnobotanically documented psychoactive substances.
• Analytical investigation of organic residues in archaeological materials using modern spectroscopic or chromatographic methods.
❋ Evaluation Criteria
Led Applicants must:
Be formally enrolled as PhD candidates at a Greek or internationally recognized university.
Have an officially approved dissertation topic.
Not receive another scholarship or financial award for the same dissertation during the same funding period.
The proposed doctoral research must fall within the Center’s fields of scientific interest
